Where To Shop For Maternity Clothes?
Whenever I post an outfit of the day on my Instagram I get asked where I shop for my pregnancy clothes! I even got a private message from a husband asking for his wife... How sweet is that?!
Now here is the thing, as much as I want to look 'good' while pregnant I'm not one to spend a lot on items I'm only going to wear a few months. I was the same the first time round. I truly believe you can still wear a lot of your existing wardrobe while mixing it with a few key pieces that will take you through the second and third trimesters.
I don't know if I'm the only one thinking that way butI find a lot of maternity clothes very tacky and 'mumsy'... As much as I live in my joggers and leggings at home I don't want to look like I've given up on life when I'm out and about!
For the basics I always find what I need in H&M. They have a great selection of denims. I bought two pairs of skinny jeans (a light and a dark wash) as well as khaki and black biker style trousers. They have been well loved since the 4th month of my pregnancy. They have an over the bump band which I find very comfortable and give great support. Their basic tee-shirts are also good quality and wash really well. I got two whites and 2 blacks along with a striped one. They are longer at the front and have a little bit of ruching down the sides which make them very flattering.
For trendier pieces I recommend to have a look on ASOS. I've hesitated for a long time to order there but I finally took the plunge after a recommendation from a friend and I've never been disappointed. The quality is ok, very similar to H&M and the prices are reasonable. I get a few questions everytime I show something from there, many people are not aware that they ship to Dubai. Yes they do and I must say the delivery is rather fast. Approximately 5 days which isn't bad at all. The icing on the cake? The delivery is free worldwide if you spend over 20£ if I remember well. I got a few trendier pieces there (think cold shoulder tops, silky tops with a build-in choker and things like that).
These were my go-to places during this pregnancy. As I said I still wear a lot of things I had in my existing wardrobe like tank tops, blazers and light cardigans.
I really don't think you need to splurge or go crazy when you are expecting a baby. The key is to find good basics that will last you throughout these few months and mix them with what you already have!
Please feel free to leave your suggestions of where to shop for other moms, it's always good to share!
