A Natural Deodorant That Actually Works?
Two years ago I switched a lot of products in my routine and slowly started to incorporate natural alternatives in my daily regime. Shampoo, soap, toothpaste and of course deodorant were my main concerns as most of them are made with controversial ingredients. Today we are going to talk about the one that was the hardest to find: deodorant!
I've had many fails and many wet days I must say... but I was really determined to find one that actually works. I've tried all sorts: crystal salts, roll-ons, creams and sprays. This has been a really long process but I've finally found one brand that keeps its promises. I've used it since last year and never looked back since then.
The brand I'm talking about is Schmidt's and is made in the US. For the little back story the brand was created by Jaime Schmidt, an american mommy who is passionated by natural body care. Like many of us she has been disappointed by natural deodorants which were ineffective and was determined to create the formula so she came up with her own recipe.
The range offers two types of deodorants. A cream version that comes in a glass jar or a convenient stick. I'm a stick kinda girl so I obviously went for that option. I've always preferred sticks, they are easy and quick to apply, don't leave a sticky or wet residue and are easy to throw in your gym bag or suitcase without risking to spill everywhere.
They come in a variety of scents, my favourite ones are the Bergamot-Lime (very refreshing) and the Fragrance-Free (which I will be using a lot when I breastfeed so that I'm not bothering the little one with any fragrance). If you are sensitive I would recommend to go for the sensitive version which doesn't contain bicarbonate soda as it can irritate the skin.
Most natural deodorants I've tried in the past were terrible at keeping me dry but these do a great job. Now I'm not gonna lie, you won't be 100% dry, especially if you live in a hot climate like me, but they really do a great job at neutralising odors and wetness. They contain a plant-based powder that helps absorb sweat. They are formulated without aluminium, propylene glycol, parabens and phthalates. They are vegan, cruelty-free and gluten-free.
If you want to find a healthy alternative to your traditional supermarket deodorant I highly recommend them! You can order them on their website, they are also available on iHerb.com.
