CHANEL La Crème Main, Worth The Price Tag?
We all like to treat ourselves in various ways... Some people like to go out for drinks, others like massages... I personally like to treat myself with luxury beauty products once in a while.
Somehow CHANEL managed to make a boring hand cream look incredibly appealing so yes, I got totally sucked in. I had it in my shopping basket for so long and finally decided to order it with a 20% discount voucher I got recently. It was now or never because 48€ for a hand cream is a bit steep. Well, a lot steep!
So what do I think of it? Well, I'm afraid to report that I'm very disappointed. It's not a 'bad' product by any means but let me explain...
The cream is extremely lightweight, which is a good thing in a way because it doesn't leave any oily residue (you can type on your computer as soon as you've applied it, you can grab your steering wheel or happily scroll through Instagram with clean fingers). The downside of course is that it's not moisturising enough, for my liking anyway. I don't like greasy hand creams for daytime but if I bother to apply something on my hands I want to feel a bit of relief and hydration. I don't get any with this one. The other issue is the perfume. It's very strong and very floral. I find it too heavy and unfortunately it lingers for a long time. At least if I loved the scent I could enjoy the cream but it's not even the case. #fail
It's supposed to have brightening effects but I haven't seen any. I didn't buy it for that purpose so at least I'm not disappointed on that level!
The packaging is the only positive point. I mean, look at it! Without a doubt the most beautiful hand cream I've ever had the pleasure to whip out of my handbag! It's definitely something you are not ashamed to reapply in public! The pebble shape fits beautifully in the palm of your hand and dispenses the cream very hygienically, more so than a traditional tube. The packaging never loses its shape, even after many uses.
I'm a bit disappointed to be honest but I guess it's a good thing on the long run because 48€ for a hand cream is not something I want to splurge on ever couple of months. There are some better lotions on the market for a fraction of the price. My personal all time favorite is the L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream. It's so good! Very nourrishing if you are suffering from dry hands (or feet). I've used it all winter long and just finished a big tube. That's definitely the one I will be repurchasing once autumn rolls around.
I would love to hear your thoughts on La Crème Main. Am I the only one disappointed? Do you like it? I will do my best to use it up (probably on my feet LOL) but I will certainly not repurchase it!
That's it for today ladies, you just saved 48€.
You are welcome... :-)
