My Thoughts On The New BRAUN Silk Epil 9 And Some Epilating Tips
If you follow me on Instagram you've already heard me talking about the newly released Braun Silk Epil 9 on my stories a few weeks ago. Some of you really wanted to hear my opinion after a few uses so here it is... your wish is my command! :-)
First of all let me tell you that I'm not sponsored. I know some bloggers have been sent this new little device but I bought it myself.
I've been epilating for years and my old (and cheap) epilator was on its last leg so I treated myself and hoped for the best! As it's on the pricey side my expectations were quite high...
Braun is well known for their epilators and the rose gold design of the Silk Epil 9 really appealed to me. It also comes with a shaving head and a little trimmer for sensitive areas which was also a big selling point for me.
The epilator claims to grab 4x shorter hair than wax and I have to agree with that! With my old one I had to wait a little bit longer between sessions. This one does really grab very short hair, which means you don't have to wait as much to remove it, major plus!
Another feature I love about it is the pivoting head. Again, the old one didn't have that quality and it makes such a big difference. The Silk Epil 9 glides better around areas like knees and feet (yes, I do shave my feet, lol).
It also has the SensoSmart system. It's basically a little light indicator that prevents you to apply too much pressure. It also has your typical light which is always handy if you epilate in dark areas like bathrooms where the lighting usually sucks.
It can be used wet or dry but in all honesty I don't really see the point of using it in my shower or bath. I feel that I get a better result when I do it on dry skin. Hair has a tendency to stick to the skin when it's wet and I don't think it's as efficient. You might like it this way, it's just my personal preference.
Last but not least, the epilator is cordless. Once it's charged you can use it up to 50 minutes which is considerable, especially if you want to take it with you on your holidays.
I can highly recommend it if you are tired of shaving every other day or want to upgrade your old epilator!
As I said I've been epilating for years so here are a few tips I've learned along the way if you are a newbie:
- I prefer shaving at night as my skin tends to be red afterwards.
- I always exfoliate my skin beforehand. My favorite way (and the most efficient in my humble opinion) is with a loofah on dry skin, it will majorly decrease the pesky ingrown hair.
- I always spray some Thermal Water from Avène once I'm done to ease the redness then apply a generous amount of moisturiser. I swear by coconut oil to rehydrate my skin.
- Don't be scared to epilate, after a few times your skin will get used to it and I promise, it won't be as painful as the first time!
I know everybody is different but for me epilating is the best way to get rid of my body hair. I'm very clumsy when it comes to waxing, going to the beauty salon every month can get quite expensive and shaving is not an option anymore as hair comes back way too fast and unfortunately thicker... not a good look!
I hope this review was helpful to some of you and that you enjoyed reading it!
Until next time guys!
